Sure, Venezuelans may not be that keen on you at first; after all, you are a comparatively loaded traveller making the most out of their dire economic situation in order to fuel your lust for adventure. Do not let that deter you, once you actually get chatting to Venezuelans, especially some of the younger generations, you will find that they are warm, incredibly hospitable and almost always up for a good time; the amount of on-the-spot offers I had to go off on an adventure were truly staggering and the Couchsurfing community in Venezuela is one of the best I have ever encountered….
There is a hell of a lot of conflicting information out there and, heck, if you really want to learn the truth — just go. Pack your bag, book that flight, be smart, be safe and learn the truth about one of the most stunning, bewildering, exhilarating and beautiful places in the world.
Peace, out. I had police escort to leave the country, I knew higher up police.. I was there for a good part of the year, and that was that. I was wondering when you visited the country last? Hey everyone, I was in Venezuela for 2 weeks just recently. I recommend going to Angel Falls, the tour was 3 days 2 nights.
I traveled every country in South America and this was the biggest highlight. Check out wakulodge on Instagram and send them a message. With the money crisis I was lucky enough to stay with 2 different families from Couchsurfing, so I could give them usd and they would buy things for me using their debt card. Also my Spanish is horrible and only one of the family spoke some English haha. Do you think this is true?
Or should I just stick to visiting Colombia? Believe it or not, in Venezuela it is quite normal to run into a street or an entire salon of tall, natural blondes. There are not only chestnuts, brunettes, and much less fat as the person who made his journey speaks, as in every country there are obesity problems and poor diet is due to lack of food.
Everything I read says do not go..???? I have been told that Los Roques is safe. Is the airport transfer in Caracas safe? How can I get a visa?
Hi, does anybody have any news about the current situation? If you are concerned about safety issues, a lot of it comes from just wrong media. Of course like anywhere in Latinamerica you have to be careful.
As far as being an American in Venezuela I would suggest applying for a visa and entering legally and being truthful about your plans, in case any officials try to stop you at the airport. Venezuela is beautiful and has many wonders to see.
In fact Venezuela is actually getting worse.. Dear One, I have a question. If everything is so cheap there, cant we make business with a local? I think thats the business of a lifetime right? Yes — you could do that. Many people have sold nice houses in very good neighborhoods, in ridiculous prices! The dictatorship in Venezuela already has a deadline… Most of the Venezuelans abroad are doing the same.

The diverse ethnicity of Venezuelan women make them look exotic and beautiful. Most women I met were very casual about sex on the first date, despite the age difference and language barrier. As for the activities, your best bet is diving, boating, restaurants, and hosting friends at your hotel. I also forgot to mention that US dollars were accepted for many services, and black market exchange is easy, just do it at the hotel or a secure area. BTW, a common attraction is Margarita Island.
I have not been there, but i hear it is becoming a destinations for American retirees. It appears that the island offers better living, luxuries, and security. Final thoughts, there are limited number of flights between Venezuela and the USA.
Make sure you bring plenty of medication and have a Plan B. Bring gifts, they go a long way, especially makeup. I am sure anyone can have a great time in Venezuela as long as they do not stand out as a rich tourist and blend in. The people are super friendly and the country is beautiful. A bit weird, I know! Anyhow… thanks again for gathering the courage to venture into Venezuela and look beyond our crisis and find all the beauty hidden behind it!
